Marijuana & Massage Parlors

Jose Huizar gave a corporate style power point presentation at Eagle Rock’s State of the Town speech on Feb. 1st, 2012. Huizar’s attitude appeared laissez faire as he discussed local graffiti, tree trimming, and the hot topic of banning medical marijuana collectives.  As if he were speaking to his locker room buddies he seized a moment to make a joke about cracking down on local massage parlors due to reports of sexually transmitted diseases.

First it was pot shops. Now it’s erotic massage parlors.

In the last two years, they’ve proliferated in the city — just as dispensaries did, and for a familiar reason.

In both cases, Los Angeles failed to quickly assess and act upon the ramifications of a new state law. Reportedly, there are 24 marijuana collectives in Eagle Rock and 30 massage parlors.

The problem is connected to a 2009 state law that created voluntary state certification for massage therapists. The intent was to make it easier for legitimate massage therapists to work anywhere in the state, but instead it has allowed entrepreneurs to no longer have to apply for police permits.

In previous raids, police have discovered that some of the women working in the parlors are illegal immigrants working to pay off debts. Isn’t this human trafficking?

Despite the fact that human trafficking may be taking place in our own neighborhoods all questions presented to Huizar were about marijuana collectives. The first question asked was to show evidence that the medical marijuana dispensaries increased neighborhood crime.  Jose haphazardly read the question by skimming over the words as if most of it were irrelevant to those in the audience. Folks in the crowd began to yell, “We can’t hear you!” When he doubled talked his answer the group shouted, “You’re not answering the question!” He was ill prepared to deal with their heckling and walked the room like  a bad comedian.

After about 20 minutes of nothingness he finally answered, “My constituents tell me there is increased crime from the marijuana collectives.” Who are his “constituents” and why is their word the truth despite other evidence such as the Rand Report? Hasn’t he researched his data, or is he just taking instructions from another source? Based on his power point presentation, his “constituents” appear more like CEO’s of a powerful corporation than local authorities.  Huizar came ill-prepared for the bombardment of marijuana questions, and may have had to wear a dunce cap back at the office. If we were to rate Huizar’s performance like a porn revue…I would give him the rating of a “soft woody”.

Part of Huizar’s defense was that the collectives claim to be non-profits that make over a hundred thousand dollars a year without paying taxes. This is entirely untrue. The collectives do pay taxes, and measure “M” was passed which would allow a tax based revenue stream to help local cities.  Meanwhile, our local city council members make over one hundred thousands dollars a year. Let’s tax Huizar to help create revenue for our much needed economy, and make this a real Happy Ending.

Tim Ryder at the State Town Address

Marijuana activists showed up unified under the leadership of  Tim Ryder who is the founder of Cannabis Clubs United with the Community. They were dressed in black to express that if  marijuana collectives are banned patients would be forced to get their medicine from the Black Market. Marin Alliance VS IRS Fundraiser

"Jam for Justice" Fundraiser for Legal Defense.

On March 1st, 2011 Marin Alliance for Medical Marijuana was the first licensed collective to receive an IRS determination that no business tax deductions are allowed. The first preliminary hearing on the case is Nov. 8th.  At the same time, Marin Alliance is also being targeted by the Dept. of Justice.

The US Attorney’s office sent dozens of letters to Northern California dispensaries threatening to shut down medical marijuana shops, seize bank accounts, and pursue criminal prosecution against property owners if they don’t stop selling in forty- five days.

If Marin Alliance for Medical Marijuana closes it’s doors the city of Fairfax will suffer as cannabis is the third largest sales tax contributor to the town.

In order to mount a two-pronged defense, the Marin Alliance Family has organized “The Jam for Justice” benefit for the MAMM Legal Defense Fund on Saturday, Nov. 5th, 2011 at 19 Broadway Niteclub in Fairfax. The event starts at High Noon and features well known Bay Area musical acts Moonalice, The Rowan Brothers Band, Terry Haggerty and Friends, along with Bluesetta Band, Bird Leg Jazz, plus Samuka and His Wild Tribe. The benefit will be hosted by the Hollywood Hemptress, comic Tere Joyce. If you are unable to attend the event, you can still make a contribution at www.cbcmarin.com .

Occupy 4:20 Los Angeles “Day One”

Occupy 4:20 kicks off this Saturday October 15, 2011 at 4:20 p.m. in Los Angeles California. Bring your voice and signs as we will be gathering at 1st and Spring St!

LOS ANGELES – October 11, 2011 – When medical cannabis patients and supporters finished their rally at the federal building on Friday, October 7, 2011, the same day U.S. Attorneys announced their escalated attack on medical cannabis collectives and cooperatives, the protesters made their way to Los Angeles City Hall to see how the ‘occupation’ was going. To read entire article click here.

After we protested in front of the federal building we received strong support from activists who were in solidarity with the Occupy Wall St movement. They sympathized that Cannabis is also a victim of corporatism gone a rye. They even went so far as to chant “No More Drug War” along with us. One lone cannabis soldier had a sign with the slogan, and was thrilled to find that his crowd had finally showed up. Occupy LA agrees that cannabis users are also part of the 99 percent, and has invited us to protest in solidarity with them. We will be marching every Saturday at 4:20 p.m.

The Patient Advocacy Network is a voice for medical marijuana patients and encourages all supporters to Occupy 4:20. Organize peaceful Occupy 4:20 events in your local area: Make signs, make t-shirts, take to the streets and make some noise because the Occupy Wall St. movement understands our message.

Download the attached flyer to educate local activists about the escalated federal attacks on medical marijuana. Use the flyer to promote your local Occupy 4:20 events. Contact Patient Advocacy Network if you want to learn more. For more info click here .

Comedians Smoke Pot On Television

First shot gun kiss on TV.

On July 22, 2011 an episode of  The Green Room aired on Showtime.  Paul Provenza and guests Kathy Griffin, Franklyn Ajaye, and Greg Proops shared a  marijuana joint. This was a historical event in American television that has not received enough media attention.

In the past, an entertainer faced being arrested or deported for engaging in such public acts of defiance, and yet now one can barely read a blip of information of it on the internet. The only clip I could find on youtube  was this video…

“Odd Woman Out”  suggests that Kathy Griffin is dickless in a circle jerk of men. This is clearly redundant in comparison to the social relevancy of smoking cannabis on television.

I honestly expected to see more network coverage since Washington’s recent  June 29th memo states:

Marijuana is illegal and the federal government can prosecute any user any time for growing, selling, or transporting it, state law be damned.

Apparently, growing, selling, or transporting marijuana is a federal offense, but recreational smoking of it on TV is so the norm and legal.  No need to raise an eyebrow to cannabis smoking on camera when fucking on cable  is referred to as ” Real Sex”.

It appears that the Lizard King behind the media curtain chose not to replay the footage where the audience quickly provides marijuana to the comics after they express a desire to smoke it.

The only article that I could find in the search engines in terms of mainstream media was on www.theinsider.com. The insider writes :

The Showtime series that features comedians in an intimate setting pushed the boundaries of comedy, taste and state law when host Provenza and his guests Kathy Griffin, Franklin Ajaye and Greg Proops lit up and shared a marijuana joint.

The Insider should know what good taste is since they do it so well.

The Insider knows everything

It was media lies that caused marijuana to be illegal in the first place. William Randolph Hearst spread newspaper lies to serve the corporate interests of himself and others. They still profit from the propaganda today.

In 1979 the Nixon administration placed Marijuana on the Controlled Substance Act as a schedule 1 drug. A schedule 1 is reserved for the most dangerous drugs that have no medicinal value.

Senator Barney Frank and Ron Paul have recently introduced a bill to end federal ban on marijuana.

The legislation would eliminate marijuana-specific penalties under federal law, but would maintain a ban on transporting marijuana across state lines. It would allow individuals to grow and sell marijuana in states that make it legal.

This may seem like a positive for marijuana legalization, but the proposal of the bill takes place after Big Pharma creates a drug called Sativa X. The drug and food administration can not administer any drug that is federally banned.

Is corporate interest the real reason that our politicians are attempting to get marijuana reduced to a schedule 3 drug? If the Federal Commerce Clause continues to ban the transportation of marijuana across state lines, will it compromise the rights of the collective to cultivate organic cannabis? To coincide with the Cole Memorandum the Obama Justice Department announced that marijuana has no medicinal value.

Now let’s refresh our memories on what happened during the Nixon Administration.

  • In 1970 the Nixon administration placed Marijuana on the Controlled Substance Act as a schedule 1 drug.
  • The White House claimed that marijuana was a dangerous gateway drug that has no medicinal value.
  • In 1974, a vote to impeach Richard Nixon for the Watergate scandal looked like it would be successful. Nixon resigned, making Gerald Ford the President of the United States.

Why are we upholding laws implemented by a president that had to be pardoned for lying about Watergate?

Thank you Paul Provenza , Franklynn Ajaye, Kathy Griffin,  and Greg Proops for smoking.

Let us toke to the brave comedians who tell it like it is.
